Anytime Walt appealed to Jesse Pinkman, Mike Ehrmantraut or any character, Cranston was in a position to promote it so viewers considered him. He was not truly a "undesirable male" -- he was just endeavoring to earn a living for his family. But, as he reported during the series finale, remaining Heisenberg was the one time he felt certainly "alive.
